"challenging the honesty of the president"

The single most important function of a news agency in any democratic country. That's what democracy *is*.

So much for the airwaves being held in the public trust. Now they are operated in the interests of the government...propaganda as entertainment. Surprisingly effective, too.

You said it, Pacian. Every damn thing I read about the media makes me want to (spacecat) rocketship myself to another planet. *Who* do these assholes think they are? Is there *any* honor left in that profession? It surely can't be that the most slavishly cliqueish among us congregate there (can it?).

Suebob, what kills me is that there will be books upon books and dissertations and exposes and white papers about the Era of Propaganda ushered in by the Bushies. In the meantime, the press fiddles while Rome burns. It's enough to make a (somewhat) sane person turn to hard drugs. (Got any?)

Dave Seah

Hey Ayse, we met briefly at SXSW 2006.

"too bad "24" isn't produced by the BBC; then I'd probably watch it"

The name of that show is "MI-5" :-) I rather liked it.
