Your no. 3 reminds me that when Tucker was toddler age and people would ask him "what's your favorite . . . ?"--as people do a lot with little kids, I guess just to get them to talk--I would, at a minimum, glare at them, but sometimes try to make it a "teachable moment." Why he have to have a favorite? Why can't you like a lot of things pretty much equally, enjoy the richness of the world? Why model hierarchies for one at such a tender age?

Sally, I'm glad I'm not the only one! This tendency of good-better-best generally worries me, and I can't help thinking that our society (the world) would benefit from recognizing each thing/person's inherent value or contribution. Winning really isn't everything.

this meme is really getting around, i did it a few days ago. i love your #1 and #6 is something i've had in my heart as well. (except it was honors algebra 2 intead of AP Art, i'd never take calc!)
