Park Service Can't Give Official Age Of Grand Canyon For Fear Of Offending Creationists....
Due to pressure from Bush Administration officials, the National Park Service is not permitted to give an official age for the Grand Canyon. Additionally, a book claiming the Grand Canyon was created by Noah's flood is for sale at the National Park's bookstore.
The sale of Grand Canyon: A Different View was scheduled for review over three years ago, but no such review has been scheduled or even requested. The creationist book was the only item approved for sale in 2003 (22 other items were rejected).
I simply cannot speak, so please insert cursing, throwing things, staring in slack-jawed disbelief, revisiting that quaint old document -- what's it called again? oh yeah -- the Constitution of these here United Benighted States, tearing hair out, and/or googling "how to learn swedish in 1000 difficult lessons" here.*
[*In honor of my oft-frantic googling re: my fantasy homeland, as spurred on by insanity of this sort, I've added a new category to arse po. Please see below.]

Oh my. Here I am, just returned from a week of internet silence, and I see this. Sometimes I think that the worst things about this administration are the ones that are easy to sneak through, like this.
Ooof. But I wouldn't move to Sweden just yet. Think of what happened on Nov. 7. And there're only 23 more months. That's survivable, right? (But we have to remain vigilant.)

Gawd and Babee Jeebus.
I tried real hard to think of some reply about awe and grandeur and billions of years of time and pressure, but I got nothin except "What a bunch of dumbasses."
Sigh.

Gimme an effin break. Put those bible thumpers back in the closet.

Imperatrix, I know what you mean about the sneaking through. I often have to go on a news hiatus to keep my sanity, and I always wonder what I'm missing then, not to mention what I'm missing in the MSM on a daily basis! Ack! November was truly sanity-saving, so I'm not moving to Sweden yet!
ja, I know, sweetie. You're an intelligent, normal person. How could you possibly bend your imagination to this level of -- I don't know, what is it? I think you should have tasty Vietnamese food w/ me instead. And maybe there's a tasty Vietnamese cocktail that we can discover.
handdrummer, I'm thinking of just copying your message and repeating it daily on my blog. It's so much more succinct than my rambling, which attempts to say the same thing. Let's hope 2007 allows us to vary the message!!
David, how many effin breaks are there, I wonder. We've asked for so many!! This is the madministration of the perpetual giving of effin breaks. F*ckers.

Arse baby, I hate to break it to you but you wouldn't like Sweden. A dear friend moved there and they SO didn't get her humor which like yours is stellar and f*cking funny as all get out. However, being a more traditionally sized woman at least unlike the fantastic Lisa (blogless to my knowledge, so sad) who is curvy could never find clothes there.
