I'm Sick of Conservatives

::reeling from the understatement of the title::

Think Progress.

CNN Headline News host Glenn Beck reacts to the possibility that global warming could lead to the flooding of Shanghai and surrounding areas, home to 40 million people: “Does anybody really care? I mean, come on. Shanghai is under water. Oh, no! Who’s gonna make those little umbrellas for those tropical drinks?”

Hey, let the most populated city in China drown. Who cares! Behold my searing wit and insight! As for Shanghai being good for the "little umbrellas" for the drinks, methinks our racist, nationalist moron needs to pick up a book once in his life STFU.

Shanghai is the often regarded as the center of finance and trade in mainland China. Modern development began with economic reforms in 1992, a decade later than many of the Southern Chinese provinces. Prior to then, much of the city's tax revenue went directly to the capital, Beijing, with little return. Even with a decreased tax burden after 1992, Shanghai's tax contribution to the central government is around 20-25% of the national total (Shanghai's annual tax burden pre-1990s was on average 70% of the national total). Shanghai today is the biggest and most developed city in mainland China.

Shanghai is one of the world's busiest ports. In 2005, Shanghai ranked first of the world's busiest ports in terms of cargo throughput, handling a total of 443 million tons of cargo. In terms of container traffic, it is the third busiest port in the world, following Singapore and Hong Kong.

And though I can hear the friends shaking their heads w/ woe wondering when I will ever untangle myself from the "news," I have to ask this: why would CNN hire this guy? I'm not implying in asking this question that CNN has any journalistic integrity whatsoever, because they do not, but still, why would they hire some uninteresting, loud-talking, talk radio, I'm-just-a-regular-guy-paid-shill- with-an-opinion-the-GOP's-talking-points gasbag?

Please sign my petition, friends. Mario Cuomo needs his own show.

Give Mario his own show!

Who's w/ me? We need real intelligence and -- lordy be, what a shock it would be to our systems -- actual informed comment. I shudder to contemplate such a gratifying possibility. Mario! Mario!

/signs petition/

I'm sick of sitting back and suffering from heartburn. I'm going to try to compose a coherent message to Beck/Premiere Radio Networks. His comment is disgusting, almost worse than Malkin's "Boo-freakin'-hoo!" re: suicides at Guantanomo.
