Don't Wake Me Up

I'm enjoying this dream of a Repugnican with scruples.

Focus Group Tested Buzz Words Debase the Seriousness of War.

This afternoon on the Senate floor, Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) blasted conservatives who have turned to “catchy political slogans” to avoid having a serious debate about Bush’s Iraq policy. Hagel argued that using such focus-group tested words like “cut and run” demean the debate and “debase the seriousness of war.” Watch it.

I'm struck by how grateful I am for simple truths. How dare these assholes posture while people are dying (in a needless war built on lies)? How dare they?

Scary bit about hyping the 500 pre-1991 chemical weapons to justify the war. So many people have seen this 'report' if they watch FOX (which I do not), and so few will see the information that debunks this claim.

Can I hold out hope that his own party might be turning against the Decider?

Yes, but Hagel's scruples stop at Diebold, don't they?

Congogirl, my coworker's husband watches Faux Nooze, so sometimes I'll hear what their line is from her, at which point I have to do quick deep breathing and meditation so as not to flip out of my chair w/ a "Noooo, that's not true!" to the talking point of the day. Anyhoo, she laughed along when another coworker and I were like, "If the madministration had found WMD, does anyone think they'd let that yahoo Santorum make the announcement? Puhleeze." I mean, come on.

DivaJ, seems like the wind's changing to me. The Deciderer is certainly no longer looked at as if he's infallible. God, it just kills me to write stuff like that AS IF it could possibly EVER have been true or thought to be true by ANYONE.

Diane, I knew Hagel had dirty dealings, but he was surprisingly "let's cut the crap" on this point, so I let myself relax for a minute, thinking it was possible for a Repug to avoid Groupthink for a half-nanosecond. I knew I'd be awakened from my dream shortly.
